So I saw the Avengers figures at TRU today. £9 ($15) each. So they cut articulation and jacked up the prices by a quid like I knew they would. Funny thing is they put out new cases of IM2 figures right next to them for £5, which are far better than the Avengers shit in every way.
Then I saw SW vehicles (ATT and Sith Infiltrator) at £33 ($50) each. £33! They can get fucked! Plus they are simple repackages of existing toys! I just can't believe how greedy Hasbro have become. Toys are simply not worth the money anymore.
I predict action figures as we know them will be gone from brick and mortar stores in about 5 years. Kids don't give a shit about action figures. They like video games. Pre school kids can carry on with their Playmobil/ action hero etc.
Soon decent action figures will be online only and come with a collector's price tag. Which basically means double cost.
Fuck Hasbro and their action figure monopoly. The prices they demand for the same old shit is disgusting. I refuse to buy any of it anymore unless it's on clearance.
Cunts.

That's bloody steep for the Avengers figures. I had high hopes of that line but not at that price with that articulation. The good thing is soon we'll be able to pick them up for half price because kids won't want them, they'll want the Avengers movie game. If they go on sale I might by a few although GI Joe 2 figures from China might have become the priority by then. Just out of interest what figures did wave 1 have in it.

Wave one (I think) is Cap, Bucky Cap, Thor, Ult Thor, Ult Hawkeye, and IM. I had to lol at Avenger IM being right next to IM2 IM, only the much better figure was almost half the price.
I've also heard that paint flakes off the Avengers figures really easily. So you have shit articulation, shit paints apps, and flaking paint - and that justifies a price hike. I just cannot understand how Hasbro thinks this will fly. I'm sure the figures have been on the pegs for a while, but as they had multiples of EVERY figure, I don't think it's looking so good for this line.
I would turn around and say Hasbro got what they deserved (i.e. bad sales) but those cunts have a physical impossibility to admit blame, and will just claim it was the movies/ stores/ collector's fault for poor sales.
I only want Black Widow and Loki. BW seem to have escapes the articulation cut, and Loki doesn't really need a high level of articulation. Though I'll probably put new hands and feet on him anyway.
The quinjet looks fun, but I'm not paying £35 for it. £25 tops. It does have some neat features.

Agreed plus Hasbro doesn't give a flying funk about us in th UK. Like you I wanted Black Widow but I doubt we'll see anything past wave 1. I guess she'll turn up on E-Bay at some point. As for the jet it's a cool toy but not £35 cool. Thanks for the heads up mate .
